Your Travel Experience with ARRIVAL
Day 1
ARRIVAL
You land in Tanzania with equal parts nerves and stoke. Moshi welcomes you with warm air and views of the peak you’re about to summit, somewhere up there in the clouds. You are taken your hotel to meet your crew, and run through gear checks and the climb briefing. You’ll feel it already: this is real. Tonight, sleep deep, or try to...
Weruweru River Lodge
Base in Moshi – central, comfortable and trek-ready. Gear check spot, soft landing post-summit.
Day 2
Rainforest Trek to Machame Camp
Kick off at Machame Gate and trek into dense, colobus-monkey territory. The trail winds through rainforest alive with birdsong and mist. It’s five–six hours of green, humid hiking to a camp that feels straight out of a dream.
Machame Camp
Tucked deep in rainforest mist, Machame Camp is your first taste of trail life. Expect soft earth underfoot, colobus monkeys overhead, and the sound of wind in ancient trees. It's cosy, quiet, and humming with summit ambition.
Day 3
Hike to Shira Camp – High Moorland Magic
Leave the jungle and enter lunar landscapes. Strange plants and wide skies lead you toward Shira Camp – wind-blown, remote, otherworldly. A shorter but steeper climb that gets you higher and closer to the stars.
Shira Camp
Perched on a plateau above the treeline, Shira Camp trades forest for vast skies. Alien-looking plants and wide-open views make this feel more Mars than Earth. Cold nights, big stars and a front-row seat to the summit ridge.
Day 4
Lava Tower Climb & Barranco Descent
Climb high to 4,600m at Lava Tower, then drop into Barranco Valley for sleep. It’s a challenging six–eight hour day, but crucial for acclimatisation. Expect wild terrain shifts and a stunning, cliff-hugged camp to end it.
Barranco Camp
Cradled below looming cliffs, Barranco Camp is a wild, beautiful contradiction – lush valley meets high-altitude hush. You’ll fall asleep under glacier glow, the Barranco Wall looming like a dare for tomorrow.
Day 5
Scramble the Barranco Wall
Tackle the infamous Barranco Wall – hands, feet, grit. No ropes needed, just nerve and balance. The payoff? Glacier views and epic ridgelines on the way to Karanga Camp. A bold, beautiful four–five hour day on the edge.
Karanga Camp
A windswept ledge between giants, Karanga is where the climb gets real. Sparse, exposed and epic, it offers insane glacier views and a growing sense that the summit isn’t just a dream – it’s within reach.
Day 6
Summit Staging at Barafu Camp
One final push to Barafu Camp – your launchpad for summit night. Arrive early, eat, hydrate, and try to rest. The next time you wake, it’s summit time. Pack’s ready. Heart’s pounding. Sleep comes slow.
Barafu Camp
This is base camp: gritty, cold and buzzing with energy. Tents cling to the slope, wind howls and every pack is packed for summit push. You won’t sleep much – but the stars and the silence will stay with you.
Day 7
Summit Uhuru Peak – 5,895m
Under moonlight and headlamps, you ascend through altitude and emotion. Uhuru Peak is the top of Africa – where breath catches and time freezes. Then descend all the way to Mweka Camp. 12–14 hours. Brutal. Glorious. Forever etched.
Mweka Camp
Surrounded by green again, Mweka feels like Earth’s way of welcoming you back. It’s warmer, softer and filled with tired bodies and wide grins. The hardest part’s behind you – now, it’s all reflection and relief.
Day 8
Summit Celebrations in Moshi
Drop through jungle trails back to Moshi. Knees ache, but spirits soar. Showers, beers, stories – you did the damn thing. Summit still buzzing in your bones, you step back into the world a little stronger.
Weruweru River Lodge
Base in Moshi – central, comfortable and trek-ready. Gear check spot, soft landing post-summit.
Day 9
Departure
Breakfast and transfer to airport.
