ARRIVAL

Make your way to Okinawa and hop in your included airport pickup waiting for you the moment you land. From the Evertrail (campervan company) office you’ll collect your fully equipped camping car and snorkel set: your home, your transport and your kit for the next seven nights. First stop is Itoman Fish Market for lunch, the kind of introduction to Okinawan food culture that no restaurant in the city can replicate. From there, pick up supplies for tonight's dinner, head south for a waterfall visit and snorkel stop, and make a tempura detour on the way to camp. Check in to Neos Park or Kitanashiro as the afternoon winds down.

Waterfall and Snorkel Down South

Your snorkel set is included and this is the first chance to use it. After picking up the camper and stocking up at Itoman Fish Market, head south to a roadside waterfall stop and snorkel the clear water beneath it. A look into what Okinawa does best before the BBQ at camp closes the day out.

Tag 1 - 2

Neos Park or Kitanashiro Camp (or similar)

A coastal campsite to ease you into the trip. Basic facilities, and a great location. The first night under the stars sets the tone for the seven that follow.

Tag 2

Peace Memorial Park

One of the most significant cultural sites in Okinawa. The park commemorates the Battle of Okinawa and sits on the southern coast with sweeping ocean views.

Tag 2 - 3

Base Camp

The standout overnight of the first half of the trip. Base Camp is more than a place to sleep, it's a hosted experience with a homemade curry dinner, a private bar and an atmosphere that makes a self-drive trip feel like you've stumbled into something more.

Tag 3

Full Day Jungle Trek

The standout included experience of the itinerary. A full day moving through Okinawa's dense interior, passing river crossings, thick canopy and the kind of physical immersion that reframes everything you thought the island was.

Tag 3 - 4

Yagaji Beach Camp (or similar)

Coastal camping on a quiet stretch of beach after the jungle trek. Basic facilities, open sky and the sound of the water close by. A natural way to close out one of the most physical days on the itinerary.

Tag 4

Fishing and Snorkel Charter (optional)

The fishing and snorkel charter is optional but this is the one we 100% recommend worth adding. Snorkel uncharted reefs off Izena, then fish for the freshest produce alongside local fishermen who know these waters better than anyone. Back at the port, a local izakaya owner collects your catch of the day and his team prepares it right there in the restaurant. A set meal and a drink are included, and a local translator keeps the conversation going between you and the locals all evening.

Tag 4 - 5

Freedom Camping at the Beach or Jungle Camping

A proper cultural stay on one of Okinawa's most remote outer islands. Depending on the weather you’ll be camping right on the beach, or in the middle of the jungle. Our local team will be there to advise.

Tag 5

A Slower Morning on Izena

Breakfast is on your own this morning. Spend the day exploring Izena at your own pace, beaches, hiking trails and backroads that go nowhere in particular. By midday load the car back on the ferry and return to the main island. Stop for acerola tasting on the way through, pick up supplies for tonight's camp cook and check in to Tonokiya Camp as the sun goes down.

Tag 5 - 6

Tonokiya Camp (or similar)

A straightforward campsite for the night after Izena. Basic facilities and a good base for the drive north the following morning.

Tag 6

Yachimun Pottery Class (optional)

An afternoon with Okinawan potters working in one of the island's oldest and most respected craft traditions. Hands-on, unhurried and a genuinely different kind of afternoon after the physical days that came before it. Pre-bookable by adding on through our website when you book.

Tag 6 - 7

Traditional Okinawan House

Your second traditional house stay of the trip. Ryukyu architecture, fukugi trees at the gate and a quieter, more considered night after the active days that came before it. Dinner at a local izakaya on your own, our local team can point you in the right direction.

Tag 7

Izakaya Hopping Tour in Naha

The trip ends the right way. A local guide from 4:45pm through Naha's izakaya scene, small bars, cold Orion beer, loads of food and a night that runs longer than the tour officially does. Ends 9:30pm

Tag 7 - 8

Estinate Hotel (or similar)

Included on the final night. A proper bed, a hot shower and a central Naha location after seven nights of camping. Details to be confirmed by the operator. Our local team arranges a taxi transfer to the hotel on Day 7.

Tag 8

Departure

Make your own way to Naha Airport for your flight home. The hotel is centrally located so a taxi or public bus will get you there easily. Okinawa will stick around for weeks to come.
